Hyderabad: Cyberabad police have rejected the claim that a video showing a biker performing stunts while bursting firecrackers is from this yearās Diwali.
The police made the statement on Monday after some X (formerly Twitter) handles began sharing the video as a recent incident, creating unnecessary fear and speculation among the public regarding their safety and security on roads.
According to the police, the video shows a person named Shameer, a resident of Ramanthapur here performing the bike stunt last year. The video went viral last year through an Instagram account called Wonders Sports Handler.
The police said that a person named Shabaz re-posted the same video on his Instagram account. A case has been registered against the person involved in the bike stunt and the vehicle was seized.
āTherefore, social media posts stating that the bike stunt was performed on Diwali this year is tantamount to spreading fake news maliciously to create fear among the public. Anyone found posting these types of videos and photos without verifying properly and dispersing false information to create panic among the public will be penalised and appropriate legal action will be initiated,ā the police said.
Parents and guardians are requested to monitor and control their children since doing stunts on bikes can mostly result in accidents, endangering their lives and others, the police said.

The police said it is taking all steps to curb bike stunts and racing events in the IT hub area. As of Monday, 15 cases have been registered and 203 bikes and three cars have been seized with the bikers being produced before the court.
