Hyderabad: Telangana is on high alert after cyclonic storm 'Michaung' intensified in the Bay of Bengal.

This follows the warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Mulugu, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Khammam, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanmakonda, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Nalgonda, Jangaon, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Siddipet, and Nagarkurnool, are likely to experience heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and winds ranging from 40-50 kmph.

The cyclonic storm is likely to move northwards, paralleling the south Andhra Pradesh coast and making landfall between Nellore and Machilipatnam, near Bapatla, with sustained winds of 90-100 kmph, gusting up to 110 kmph.

Residents have been advised to exercise caution, stay updated through official announcements, and prepare for adverse weather conditions.

Daytime temperatures in the twin cities reached 27 degrees Celsius, with nighttime temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius.

As authorities closely monitor the situation, relief measures are emphasized, especially for farmers facing potential challenges.

Officials stress the importance of identifying vulnerable areas, relocating residents to safe zones, and promptly addressing the aftermath of the cyclone.

Madhira MLA Batti Vikramarka Mallu urged officials to take proactive measures to minimize casualties and ensure public safety.

Efforts are focused on securing the well-being of those in low-lying areas and providing safe havens for relocation.

Local authorities have been asked to deploy disaster response teams and coordinate relief efforts to mitigate the impact of the cyclone.

Farmers, likely to be affected by the cyclone, have been assured of necessary assistance and support from the government.
