Day temperatures begin to rise across Telangana, winter cold phases away

Hyderabad: Weather conditions across Telangana are entering a transition phase as winter intensity declines and daytime temperatures begin to rise, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad centre.

Officials say the state is likely to see mostly dry weather over the next few days, with clearer skies and warmer afternoons.

Moderation until end of February

Meteorologists indicate that the current pattern signals a gradual shift from winter toward pre-summer conditions.

IMD forecasts suggest that these moderate conditions may continue until the end of February, after which a sharper rise in temperatures is likely as the summer season approaches.

Mostly dry conditions for next three days

IMD states that dry weather is expected to prevail across Telangana over the next three days due to wind patterns in the lower atmosphere.

“South-easterly and easterly winds are currently dominating the lower levels of the atmosphere, and these are not favourable for rainfall activity over Telangana,” said independent meteorologist KS Sridhar, speaking to NewsMeter.

As a result, most districts are likely to experience clear to partly clear skies, with no significant rainfall forecast in the short term.

Cold reduces in Hyderabad, persists in northern districts

The reduction in winter chill is more noticeable in Hyderabad and surrounding urban areas, where night temperatures have become milder. However, some northern districts continue to report cooler early morning and late evening conditions.

Officials said ‘districts such as Kumrambheem, Asifabad, and Adilabad may continue to experience light cold conditions in isolated pockets, especially during early hours.’

Patchy fog is also likely in forested and low-lying areas. Authorities have advised caution for motorists during early morning travel due to possible visibility reduction.

Night temperatures moderate, daytime heat increasing

According to weather data, the average minimum temperature across the state is around 18°C. Experts say such conditions are generally comfortable for most residents.

Dr Durga Das, a public health expert, noted, “Moderate night temperatures are usually easier on vulnerable groups such as children and senior citizens compared to extreme cold or heat.”

At the same time, maximum temperatures are rising across several districts and have crossed 30°C in multiple locations. Meteorologists expect a gradual increase in daytime temperatures over the coming weeks.

Health advisory issued for warmer afternoons

With warmer afternoons returning, doctors are advising basic precautions against heat and dry air exposure.

Dr Das said, “People should maintain hydration and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours.”

Medical experts also flagged the possibility of higher dust levels during dry spells.

Dr Das added, “Dry weather can increase airborne dust, which may trigger allergies and breathing discomfort. Those with asthma or sinus conditions should consider protective measures when outdoors.”

Stable weather aids travel and outdoor activity

Officials say the current forecast of dry and stable weather is favourable for travel and outdoor events. With limited fog and no immediate rainfall expected, transport disruptions are unlikely.

Weather officials noted that “Clear skies and stable conditions typically support smoother air, rail, and road operations, and are suitable for planned outdoor programmes.”
