Deccan Inferno: Remains of unidentified man found, searches continue

Hyderabad: A team of experts has recovered the remains of a man from the gutted structure of Deccan Cooperation at Radha Arcade, Minister Road in Secunderabad. Earlier, two drone cameras have been deployed to keep watch in the area.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, Hyderabad city Rajesh Chandra said Collector Hyderabad and Revenue officials, GHMC officials, clues team, Fire and Police officials re-inspected the scene. The joint team found a bunch of bones on the first floor of the Deccan cooperation building.

"The bones were collected with the help of the Sri Venkanna Clues team expert and the team and fire department. These were sent to Gandhi hospital for preservation and conducting the PME to know the exact cause of death. After PME the samples will be sent to TSFSL for analysis," said DCP Rajesh Chandra.

After verifying the footage in drone camera, it is found that most of the ceilings have collapsed. Based on the expert opinion, that the building may collapse at any time, the people in the neighboring building were asked to vacate their houses till further information.

On 19 January, a massive fire broke out on the ground floor of the Deccan Knitwear Sports Shop building and spread to the other floors. It took firefighters 10 hours to douse the flames at the five-storey building. On 20 January, parts of the ground floor were still smoldering. A joint team of experts has suggested vacating all the houses adjacent to the gutted Deccan Cooperation building in Secunderabad. "Based on the expert opinion that the building may collapse anytime, the officials briefed the neighboring building owners/tenants to support and vacate their houses till further information", said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, Hyderabad city Rajesh Chandra.

Ramana Rao Director of NIIT, Warangal suggested that the building is in dilapidated condition. He said the slab of the building has developed cracks. Some of its portions have caved in. He suggested deploying force and preventing trespassing.
