Demolition of N Convention is unlawful: Nagarjuna Akkineni
He stated that the demolition was in direct violation of existing court orders and ongoing legal cases
By Newsmeter Network Published on 24 Aug 2024 7:47 AM GMTHyderabad: Reacting to the demolition of N Convention in Madhapur, actor Nagarjuna, who owns the venue, has called the action unlawful.
On Saturday, teams from the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) demolished the building, labelling it as an encroachment.
In a social media post, Nagarjuna expressed his distress over what he described as an unlawful demolition of N Convention, which he stated was in direct violation of existing court orders and ongoing legal cases.
"I thought it fit to issue this statement to place on record certain facts for protecting my reputation and to indicate that we have not done any actions in violation of law. The land is a Patta land, and not even an inch of tank plan is encroached. In respect of the building constructed inside the private land, there is a stay order granted against any earlier illegal notice for demolition. Today clearly, the demolition was carried out wrongfully based on misinformation,", wrote Nagarjuna in a social media post.
He stated that no notice was issued prior to carrying out the demolition on Saturday morning.
"As a law-abiding citizen, if the Court before which the matter is pending, had decided against me, I would have carried out the demolition myself. I am placing this on record for the purpose of correcting any public misimpression about wrongful constructions or encroachment by us," said Nagarjuna who would be seeking appropriate relief from the Court in relation to the wrong actions carried out by the authorities.
Spread over 10 acres of land, N Convention Hall in Madhapur has been a topic of discussion for years.
On August 21, Congress Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy wrote a letter to HYDRAA commissioner A V Ranganath against N-Convention encroachment, saying the structure is built within the FTL area, protected by a raised retaining wall towards the tank water side, and was constructed by raising the original ground level, thereby reducing the water spread area of the Kunta.
The FTL area of Thammidi Kunta is 29.24 acres, while the N Convention management has encroached around 1.12 acres in FTL and 2 acres in the buffer zone.
As a part of HYDRAA operations last week, the teams demolished over 20 under-construction structures, including Oro Sports Village, Palamuru Grill, and others on Shankarpally road at Khanapur village after declaring them as constructed illegally in the buffer zone of Osman Sagar.
Apart from curbing encroachments and restoring lake areas, HYDRAA has placed a strong emphasis on the protection and development of municipal parks.
