Hyderabad: Amid a spike in COVID cases, Banjara Hills police station has started a new initiative of visiting complainants' homes to register a complaint.

This follows the reports of people showing hesitancy in visiting the police station after reports surfaced that many cops were infected at different places.

Since it is mandatory to visit the station for registering a complaint, Banjara police decided to visit complainants' homes instead to make them comfortable. A complainant has to just call on 100 and the cop will land at his or her home.

"Seven personnel has been infected with the COVID19 in our station. The news of outbreak at various police stations in the city has caused panic among citizens. A citizen can call on 100 and our personnel will visit them, take the written complaint, and give acknowledgment on the spot," said P. Shiva Chandra, SHO, Banjara Hills.

Police started the initiative on Wednesday. The SHO said that it will continue.
