Hyderabad: In an extensive operation spread over several days, the Madhapur police officials have taken into custody, a DJ and two others for consumption of cocaine and ganja.

Case details

According to the Madhapur Police of Cyberabad, a DJ came under their scanner for dealing drugs. They followed him quietly and made a note of the pubs he was visiting in the Madhapur and Gachibowli area after consuming drugs.

A watch was also kept on the people he was meeting. Based on the ground intelligence, soon, the police called 16 people associated with the DJ who were frequently in the pubs in Madhapur and Gachibowli area.

They were tested for drugs with the 12-panel Abbott Urine testing kit and two persons including the DJ tested positive for cocaine and cannabis.

They were taken into custody and a case was registered against them in Madhapur Police Station, Cyberabad.

The police said that a positive outcome from the operation is that a woman who was caught a few months back with an intermediate quantity of cocaine tested negative.

“Yes, if people show grit, they can come off drugs,” the police said.

Anti-drug committees in schools and colleges

The police asked people to stay away from drug suppliers as they were under watch. They said that they are working hard to fight the drug menace in the top institutes and schools.

They called for Anti-Drug Committees (ADCs) in schools and colleges to give information to the local police or TGANB in case of suspicion of drugs on premises.

They should employ retired police officers in case they are not able to collect information. The police said that the individual's identities will be kept private.

They said that the anti-drug panels should check the bags and lockers for e-cigarettes, vapes, small liquor bottles, ganja chocolates, weed, cigarettes etc.

Sometimes, the senior students use their juniors to smuggle drugs and cigarettes by bullying. In case they are students, we will not be disclosing their names, the police said. We appeal to the public to report any information on drugs to TGANB Control Room No 87126 71111.
