Doctor abused by TRS Uppal MLA transferred; doc alleges revenge

Hyderabad: A Civil Assistant Surgeon Dr. B Kaushik, has been transferred after Uppal MLA Bethi Subash Reddy verbally abused him at Kushaiguda PHC.
On 19 August, MLA Bethu Subash Reddy visited the PHC but there was a delay in receiving the patients as Dr. B. Kaushik was attending to some patients with chest pain
"After I attended to my patients, I went to the MLA to greet him. He started screaming at me," said Dr. Kaushik.
The MLA and his associates created a ruckus at the Kushaiguda PHC and abused the duty medical officer for not inviting the MLA from the gate of the PHC.
"The MLA kept abusing me and scolding me for disrespecting him. Even though I was trying to explain that I was with patients that needed attending to, he did not understand," Dr. Kaushik added. Dr Kaushik said that the MLA has verbally abused him. "I did not keep myself busy on purpose. I just happened to be with the patients. The way I have been treated is definitely wrong," he said.
"The MLA kept saying that he will ruin my career and get me transferred," he added.
The MLA allegedly called senior officials in front of the medical officer and demanded that he be disbarred or transferred.
Nearly a week after the incident, Dr. Kaushik was transferred from Kushaiguda to Muduchintalapalli.
"I didn't want to make a big deal of it. But when I was transferred, it really hurt my feelings," Dr. Kaushik said and added, "I reached out to Healthcare Reforms Doctor's Association (HRDA) once I realised my transfer was an act of revenge."
