Hyderabad: A Telangana High Court Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice C. Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy passed an interim order on 8 August regarding the redeployment of village revenue officers (VROs) in other departments.
In the interim order, the Chief Justice Bench directed the state government not to deploy VROs to other government departments and said they may be allowed to continue in the revenue department until further orders. The Bench was hearing a writ petition filed by the Telangana Village Officers' Association, represented by its president Golkonda Satish, seeking to direct the state government that the abolition of the post of village revenue officers, according to the government order 121, is illegal and unconstitutional.
The petitioner further requested the court to issue consequential directions to the state government to fill up the existing posts of senior assistants earmarked for VROs based on available posts and seniority. They also requested the TPEA for local cadres and regulation of Direct Recruitment Order 2018 be set aside. Hearing the contentions of the petitioner's counsel, P.V Krishnaiah, the Chief Justice Bench issued notices to the state government and its respondent authorities to file counters.
The court directed the registry to list the matter on 29 August for further hearing.
