DPR for Future City metro rail project soon, says NVS Reddy

HMRL managing director NVS Reddy inspects Future City metro corridor on Sunday

Hyderabad: Action is being initiated in tune with the vision of chief minister A Revanth Reddy to develop Future City as the ā€˜Fourth Cityā€™ after Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Cyberabad, stated Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy during a field inspection of Future City metro corridor.

The vision for Future City is to make it a pollution-free green city, ranking among the best cities in the world. As a part of this vision, the Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd (HAML) is preparing DPR for the Future City metro rail project, the MD mentioned.

ā€˜15,000 acres of pollution-free green cityā€™

The aim is to build green corridors for Future City, ensuring swift and easy access to it from the airport. The Airport-Future City metro rail corridor will play an important role in developing Future City, which will have around 15,000 acres as a pollution-free green city.

On Sunday, the Metro MD inspected the survey works for the preparation of DPR for the metro corridor from the airport to the under-construction Skill University at Meer Khan Pet and made several suggestions. Due to the lack of a road after crossing Kongara Kalan, the MD and his team trekked through hillocks and boulders on foot for the field inspection.

Details of the metro corridor from Shamshabad Airport to Future City

The metro route from Shamshabad Airport to Future City will be approximately 40 km long. It will start from the airport terminal, pass alongside the proposed metro rail depot in the airport area, follow the boundary wall of the airport for about 5 km along Mansanpally Road and reach Pedda Golconda ORR Exit.

As desired by the CM, to facilitate the development of about 1,500 acres of government land available at Bahadurguda near the Pedda Golkonda exit as a world-class hub, two highly attractive metro stations are being planned at Bahadurguda and Pedda Golconda, the MD stated.

From the Pedda Golconda Exit, the metro route will continue as an elevated metro line for about 14 km along the ORR to the Tukkuguda Exit and then to the Raviryala Exit. From Raviryala Exit to the under-construction Skill University at Meerkhanpet, the route will be developed via Kongara Kalan, Lemur, Timmapur, Rachalur, Gummadavelli and Panjaguda as ā€˜At Gradeā€™ metro rail corridor on the road surface in the 22 meters (72 feet) wide central part of the 100 meters (328 feet) wide Green Field Road being constructed by HMDA.

The metro rail will be at the same level in the middle of this broad road, with three-lane main carriageways on both sides and additional service roads adjacent to the main carriageway.

In this context, NVS Reddy reminisced about his previous experience when Dr YSR was the CM and the ORR was being constructed. At that time, Dr YSR accepted his proposal to allocate 20 meters of space within the ORR for the future metro, despite many sceptics dismissing that such grand plans were mere pipe dreams.

ā€œToday, both ORR and metro are a reality, which facilitated the development of Hyderabad as an international city which attracts leading global companies and investments,ā€ he reminisced.

The Metro MD further stated that the ongoing large-scale infrastructure projects initiated by the present government will ensure a much brighter future for Hyderabad and Telangana.

Just as the successful implementation of the 69 km first phase metro as the worldā€™s largest PPP metro with an investment of about Rs 22,000 crore, HAML will work together with HMDA, TGIIC and other government organisations to realise these new plans under CM Revanth Reddyā€™s energetic leadership, the MD emphasised.

NVS Reddy added that the DPR for Future City Metro Corridor, along with North City Medchal and Shamirpet Corridors, would be completed by the end of March and submitted to the central government after approval of the state government.

Engineers and officials of HAML and other connected departments participated in the inspection.
