Hyderabad: Drinking water supply to several parts of the city will be disrupted for 18 hours from Thursday morning due to emergency repair and maintenance works on key water and power infrastructure, officials said on Tuesday.
Emergency repairs on Singur Pipeline
The disruption is necessitated by urgent repair works to arrest major leakages in the 1,600 mm diameter Phase-III main pipeline supplying water from the Singur Project to Hyderabad.
The affected stretch lies between Pedda Pur and Singapur.
Power maintenance at TS Transco Substation
Simultaneously, TS Transco will undertake MR testing, hotline rectification and routine maintenance works at the 132 kV Kandi Substation, specifically on the Pedda Pur feeder.
Duration of disruption
The works will be carried out from 10 am on Thursday, January 8, to 4 am on Friday, January 9, during which the water supply will remain suspended in the listed areas.
Areas affected
O&M Division 15: Malaysian Township, Madhapur, Kondapur, Doyens Section (Madhapur), Indian School of Business (ISB).
O&M Division 9: Bharat Nagar, Moosapet Section, Gayatri Nagar Section, Balanagar Section, parts of KPHB, parts of Balaji Nagar Section.
O&M Division 6: Fathenagar.
O&M Division 17: Gopal Nagar, Hafeezpet Section, Mayuri Nagar, Miyapur Section.
O&M Division 22: Pragathi Nagar Section and Mytas area.
Transmission Division 2: BHEL, MIG-I & II, Rail Vihar, Hyderabad Central University, Chandanagar.
Advisory to residents
Residents in the affected localities are advised to store sufficient water and use it judiciously during the disruption period, officials added.
