Hyderabad: Rachakonda police on Tuesday arrested a head constable after he rammed his bike into a scooty injuring a 14-year-old girl at Meerpet.

Identified as Srinivas Rao, he is the head constable of Telangana Police's Intelligence Wing.

Police said he was riding a motorbike under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred.

Srinivas was on a motorbike registered in the name of the police department. He rammed his bike into the scooty causing injuries to a girl. After the incident, he tried to run away from the spot but was rounded up by the passersby and handed over to the police.

Even at the police station too, he reportedly created ruckus and warned the cops with dire consequences. Meerpet police registered a case against him under sections 337 and 308 of the IPC and 185 of the MV act.

On Monday night, Palamur Chandra Shekar, a resident of Balapur and working as a Teacher in Government ZP School was on his way home along with his daughter P Saramu, 14.

When they reached near Hanuman temple, Srinivas rammed his bike into the victim's scooty. As a result, they fell down and Saramu received minor injuries.

People around stopped the bike, but Srinivas Rao abused them and tried to run away. They somehow caught him and handed him over to the police.

The drunken-driving test showed that his alcohol level was 200 mg dl. He was later arrested and produced before the court.
