Drunk Driving in Hyderabad: 928 cases reported in 7 days, youth top offenders

Hyderabad: In a focused enforcement drive against drunk driving, the Hyderabad Traffic Police booked as many as 928 motorists between June 7 and June 13.
The data reveals a concerning trend: young male two-wheeler riders are the most frequent violators. The majority of those booked were in the 21ā30 age group, accounting for over 42 percent of the total cases.
Notably, no women or minors below 18 were found violating during this period.

The highest number of cases ā 419 ā were booked in the 51ā100 mg/dL BAC range, indicating consumption just above the permissible limit.
Police Advisory:
A senior traffic official reiterated the departmentās commitment to road safety and warned against the risks of impaired driving. āDrunk driving is a major threat to public safety. We urge citizens to act responsibly ā drive safe, party later, and live longer,ā the official said.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police have announced that surprise checks will continue in high-risk areas as part of their zero-tolerance approach toward violations.
