EFLU Hyderabad student jumps to death from fourth floor of hostel building

Hyderabad: A 22-year-old student of The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad died by suicide on Saturday morning under the Osmania University police station limits.

According to the Osmania police, the student jumped from the fourth floor of the hostel building.

The victim has been identified as Anjali, a second-year student pursuing MA English. She was staying at EFLU’s Mahlaqa Bai Chanda (MBC) Hostel for Women in Seethafalmandi. The student is a native Bahamnoli of Jhajjar town in Haryana.

On being alerted by the university authorities, the police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem.

Speaking to NewsMeter, Osmania police inspector L. Ramesh Naik said, “We suspect that family issues might be the reason for her extreme step. Before she died by suicide, she had an argument with her mother.”

A case was registered after a complaint was filed by the girl’s father.
