Election Raids: Rs 18 lakhs cash, Rs 3 Cr worth items seized in one day in GHMC

Hyderabad: During the last 24 hours – from 6 am on Friday to 6 am on Saturday – Rs 18,94,720 in cash and other items worth Rs 3,26,37,002 were seized as part of the security raids for the upcoming elections, said district election officer, GHMC commissioner Ronald Rose.

He said that 104.14 litres of illegal liquor has been seized by the Excise Department. So far, 8 cases have been registered and 8 people have been arrested. He said that 16 complaints regarding cash and other items were investigated and resolved and 12 FIRs were registered. It was explained that two licensed weapons were deposited.

Ronald Rose said that so far Rs 14,57,89,805 in cash and Rs 5,28,21,927 worth of other goods have been seized in the district.

The district election officer explained that 204 cases were registered and 201 people were arrested, and 20,872.56 litres of liquor were seized, 416 complaints regarding cash and other items were investigated and resolved, 275 FIRs were registered and 2,916 licensed weapons were deposited.
