Hyderabad: The Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGSPDCL) has launched a dedicated WhatsApp chatbot to enable electricity consumers to access key services instantly through their mobile phones.
Announcing the initiative as a major push towards digital governance and consumer convenience, Chairman and Managing Director Musharraf Faruqui, IAS, said the move is aimed at leveraging modern technology to make electricity services more efficient, accessible and user-friendly.
Services at fingertips through WhatsApp
With the launch of the chatbot, consumers can now access a range of electricity-related services simply by saving the number 8712441912 on their mobile phones and sending a “Hi” message on WhatsApp.
The chatbot allows users to:
- Register electricity complaints
- Check billing details
- Get updates on power supply status
- Access other consumer-related services
The service is designed to provide quick responses and reduce the need for physical visits or prolonged calls to customer care centres.
24/7 access from anywhere
Officials stated that the WhatsApp-based platform ensures that consumers can obtain electricity-related information anytime and from anywhere, offering greater flexibility and convenience.
The initiative is part of TGSPDCL’s broader efforts to modernise service delivery and enhance customer satisfaction through digital solutions.
Advisory to consumers
TGSPDCL has advised all electricity consumers to save the official WhatsApp number on their phones to avail themselves of services in a secure and simplified manner.
The company emphasised that the chatbot is an official and safe platform for accessing electricity services.
