Hyderabad: According to the report released by Swiggy, every sixth biryani order in the country originated from Hyderabad, with a single Hyderabadi placing 1,633 biryani orders in 2023.

Hyderabad, popularly known as the Biryani capital of India, stands top of the food orders placed through Swiggy in 2023. Chicken Biryani is on the top, and a single Hyderabadi has placed 1,633 biryani orders in 2023.

On Thursday, Swiggy shared Hyderabad’s top trends in food delivery in 2023 with the ‘How India Swiggy’d’ report.

The city’s biggest foodie spent Rs 37,008 on a single order.

What Hyderabadis ordered from Swiggy in 2023?

The heart of the culinary scene in Hyderabad beats for Biryani, maintaining its reign as the most-ordered dish on Swiggy for the eighth consecutive year.

Idly worth Rs 6 lakhs ordered

In 2023, a Hyderabadi ordered idlis worth a whopping Rs 6 lakhs. Maska Bun, Chicken Popcorn, Hot Chicken Wings, Veg Puff, and Samosa took centre stage when it came to the city’s top five snacks.

Double-ka Meetha takes the lead in desserts

Among the dessert aficionados, Double-ka Meetha retained its position as the city’s go-to dessert. It was followed by Apricot Delight, Gulab Jamun, Choco Lava Cake, and Double Dark Chunk Chocolate Cookie.

Not just ordering in, the city’s foodies also made the most of the city’s vibrant dining out options. Swiggy Dineout, catered to over four lakh customers in Hyderabad, saving them an impressive Rs 25 crores while witnessing a collective expenditure of Rs 125.6 crores.

The highest individual bill through Dineout peaked at Rs 1,78,507, underscoring the platform’s influence on dining experiences.

Digital dining in Hyderabad

A Hyderabadi used ‘IT’ skills to save Rs 5.58 lakhs on dining with Swiggy Dineout, setting a national record. This is said to be the highest savings in India. In Hyderabad, by embracing the digital dining experience, with 88.23 per cent of orders opting for online payment methods.
