Hyderabad: Former BRS Kodangal MLA Patnam Narender Reddy has filed a petition in the Telangana High Court praying for the quashing of the remand order passed by JFCM at Kodangal in Vikarabad district.
Patnam Narender Reddy informed the court that the complaint was lodged at Bomraspet police station on November 11.
Tension prevailed at Lagcherla on Monday after some villagers protesting the acquisition of their lands for a proposed 'pharma village' allegedly attacked the vehicles of the district authorities. The protesters also attacked and injured Additional Collector Linga Naik and a DSP Srinivas Reddy when they went to rescue the Collector.
The petitioner, who is accused number one in the FIR, said he was in no way concerned with the incident.
Narender Reddy was reportedly taken into custody at KBR Park two days ago when he was on a morning walk. He was later shifted to the Parigi police station. One of the accused in the attack, B Suresh, is reportedly a follower of Narender Reddy.
In his petition, Reddy denied police claims that the accused, who pelted stones at the government officials, intended to kill them. He said there is no enmity between the government officials and the accused.
During the investigation, the police also took Narendra Reddy’s phone to verify his call data to ascertain his role in the attack on the collector.
The villagers, whose lands are said to have been acquired for the TIISC, attacked the government officers. Later, those involved in the attack were arrested.
Based on the confession statements of the accused, the petitioner was arrayed as accused and taken into custody on November 13. He was produced before the JFCM at Kodangal which sent him to judicial custody.
The petition will come up for hearing on November 18.
