Hyderabad: In what will surely come as good news for Hyderabad metro commuters, the Hyderabad Metro Rail has become India's first metro to roll out digital payment-enabled metro ticket booking facility through WhatsApp.

Following several months of testing, L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited (L&TMRHL) has added a new mode of digital ticket booking via WhatsApp, the popular messenger app, in collaboration with Billeasy and AFC partner, ShellinfoGlobalsg, Singapore. This will make travel easy for metro commuters of Hyderabad.

Commuters can now purchase an e-ticket through WhatsApp, which they can show at the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates to continue their journey. This service is in addition to TSavaari and other third-party payment apps for digital ticket booking.

Here is the how you can book metro tickets through WhatsApp:

Ā· Initiate a WhatsApp chat by sending "Hi" to Hyderabad Metro Rail phone no. +918341146468 or scan the QR code available at metro stations.

Ā· Get an OTP and an e-ticket booking URL (valid for 5 minutes).

Ā· For contactless digital experience, click the e-ticket booking URL to open e-ticket gateway webpage.

Ā· Choose the options "Journey Route & Journey Type" and make the payment (Gpay, PhonePe, Paytm & Rupay debit card, etc.)

Ā· Get metro e-ticket URL on your registered WhatsApp number.

Ā· Click metro e-ticket URL to download the QR e-ticket (valid for one business day).

Ā· Flash the QR e-ticket at the AFC gate and proceed.
