By Anoushka Caroline Williams Published on 16 April 2023 4:30 AM GMTHyderabad: Faraaz Farshori, an award-winning Hyderabadi techie, has started an Initiative #DHFIftaarforOrphans to feed the poor this Ramadan.
DHF or Die Hard Foodies was started by Farshori in 2015 to bring like-minded family and friends together through their love of food and sharing.
While it started as a Facebook community bonding over different cuisines, it soon turned into a community that came together to help people in need.
In Conversation with NewsMeter, Farshori talked about the noble cause: Excerpts:
Tell us more about Die Hard Foodies?
Die-Hard Foodies is Hyderabad's most vibrant and well-liked foodie community that stays away from alcohol. This community revolves around family and food. I began my page in 2015 with only close family and friends, but we have grown into a large family of 9300 individuals.
How did Die Hard Foodies become a Charitable Organisation?
Before the pandemic, we were just a group of people meeting often to eat great food and have good conversations. Soon after the pandemic, Hyderabad faced horrible floods and we started āHumans of Die Hard Foodiesā. We adopted 200 families during the Hyderabad floods to provide for them everything they need including school fees and jobs, vehicles, etc.
How did you come up with the idea of Iftaar for orphans?
Compassion, generosity, discipline, honesty, selflessness, and tolerance. These values are central to Islam. Our Muslim brothers and sisters are obligated to contribute, share, and care for others, whether they are related by blood or friendship, or just those less fortunate than themselves.
Since our whole forte is food and families, we realized that there are so many people who don't get the chance to break their fasts with their families. W teamed up with places like Pista House to make it happen this Ramadan. It is all about giving.
Is your Family a part of this Initiative?
Yes, we as a family love to eat and spend time together. What better way to do that than by having Iftaari together with the underprivileged? We always come together for such causes.
