Financial fraud: HCA suspends arrested president Jagan Mohan, secretary Devraj, treasurer Srinivas
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has suspended its president, secretary, and treasurer following their arrest in a financial fraud case.
The Apex Council decided in an emergency meeting, citing violations under its governing rules.
Action follows arrest of key office-bearers
HCA president A Jagan Mohan Rao, secretary R Devraj, and treasurer CJ Srinivas Rao were suspended after being taken into police custody.
The three are facing charges of cheating, forgery, criminal breach of trust, and misappropriation of association funds.
Investigations are currently underway by both the Crime Investigation Department (CID) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Suspension invoked under Association Rules
The Apex Council stated that the action was taken under Rule 41(6) and Rule 15(4)(d) of the HCA Memorandum of Association and Rules & Regulations 2018.
The council stressed that the suspension was necessary in light of the "seriousness of the charges" and to maintain the associationās credibility.
Acting president takes charge
In the absence of the suspended office-bearers, vice-president Daljeet Singh has taken over as acting president to ensure the smooth functioning of the association's activities.
Council reaffirms commitment to integrity
In a press release, the council said, āThe Hyderabad Cricket Association remains committed to the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability. This action has been taken in the best interests of the association and to uphold its reputation.ā
