Hyderabad: A steel flyover, a first of its kind in Hyderabad, from Indira Park to VST is getting ready for inauguration. Currently, the flyover is undergoing a load test and it will be open to the public in around 10 days.
The flyover will facilitate conflict-free traffic from Indira Park to Vidyanagar junction avoiding at least four junctions - NTR Stadium junction, Ashoknagar junction, RTC X Roads junction, and Baghlingampally junction.
At the RTC crossroads junction, the flyover will be 26.54 m above the Metro Line-II. The flyover is built at a cost of Rs 450 crore by the GHMC under the Strategic Road Development Project (SRDP) of Telangana.
The unique 2.81 km-long steel flyover was built using 12,500 MT of special alloy steel and up to 20,000 cubic metres of concrete.
The flyover stands over 81 steel piers of which 46 are pile foundations and the remaining are open excavated foundations. Altogether, 426 steel girders are supporting a four-lane deck slab of 16.6 m wide.
