Five, including techie, held in Panjagutta drug bust; MDMA, hydroponic ganja seized

Hyderabad: Panjagutta Police, in coordination with the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), arrested five persons, including a key local drug peddler and seized MDMA, hydroponic ganja and mobile phones during targeted raids in Panjagutta on Sunday.
The arrests were made following credible intelligence inputs, said Panjagutta ACP P Murali Krishna.
Main peddler arrested
Acting on specific information, a special police team led by Panjagutta Inspector Ramakrishna, along with Sub-Inspector G Naresh and staff conducted raids within the limits of the Panjagutta Police Station.
The operation resulted in the arrest of one main drug peddler and four local sub-peddlers involved in illegal drug supply and distribution.
Drugs and material seized
Police seized the following contraband and material from the accused MDMA: 10.5 grams, OG (Hydroponic Ganja): 7.5 grams and five mobile phones.
Main accused identified
The prime accused was identified as Katangur Mahan Reddy alias Mahan (28), a driver by profession and a resident of Beeranguda.
The four sub-peddlers arrested in the case were identified as:
- Mohammed Abdul Nabi alias Arshad, a catalogue assistant at Amazon
- Rupani Mukesh Babu alias Bunny, an IT recruiter
- Sriram Raviteja alias Teja, a student
- Bhoopathi Sai Chaitanya alias Sunny, a software employee
Search on for other accused
ACP Murali Krishna stated that several suppliers, transporters and consumers linked to the drug network are absconding. Special teams have been formed to trace and arrest them.
Based on the seized narcotics and other evidence, a case has been registered at Panjagutta Police Station under the provisions of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
Police appeal to youth
The ACP warned that strict action would be taken against those involved in drug trafficking and consumption. He also appealed to youth to stay away from drugs and cooperate with the police in curbing the drug menace.
