92 cases booked, 62 tonnes of adulterated food seized, 98 held: Hyderabad CP Sajjanar
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police registered 92 cases, seized 62 tonnes of adulterated food, and arrested 98 persons in a month, Commissioner VC Sajjanar said, warning strict action against offenders.
Adulteration is a “Direct Attack on Society”
Addressing food business operators, the Commissioner said adulteration is not merely a business malpractice but a serious threat to public health. He cautioned traders against risking lives for profits and made it clear that offenders will face stringent legal consequences.
Awareness meet under H-FAST initiative
The CP was speaking at an awareness programme organised under the ‘H-FAST’ initiative at the Old Police Commissionerate office in Basheerbagh. Nearly 200 representatives from sectors such as meat, dairy, bakery products, ginger-garlic paste, and tea powder attended the session.
No compromise on food quality
Emphasising accountability, Sajjanar urged food business operators to maintain strict quality standards and act responsibly. He reiterated that there should be zero tolerance for food adulteration and called on traders to prioritise consumer safety.
FSSAI licence mandatory
The Commissioner underlined that all food business operators must possess a valid FSSAI licence. He also appealed to traders and the public to report any instances of adulteration to the police promptly.
Safeguarding Hyderabad’s Reputation
Stressing the city’s global image, Sajjanar said every business owner has a role in preserving Hyderabad’s reputation. He assured full support from the police and the government to those conducting business ethically.

During the interaction, business representatives brought several field-level issues to the Commissioner’s notice. Responding positively, Sajjanar assured that their concerns would be addressed. Traders appreciated the police initiative and pledged cooperation in curbing adulteration.
