Hyderabad:Rachakonda cyber crime police have arrested a former professor of Aurora Engineering College, Aushapur-Ghatkesar, for creating a fake Facebook ID in the name of the chairman to wage defamation campaign against the institute.
Identified as Dr. Sirajuddin, he has been booked under section 419 of IPC and 66C and 66D of the IT Act.
Hailing from Kuntloor in the Rangareddy district, he was nursing a grudge against the institute after he quit the job.
During the investigation, police found that the accused worked as a professor at the college. However, he had a run-in with the management over salary. Later the accused resigned from the college, but he was not relieved immediately.
Nursing a grudge, he created a fake Facebook ID in May 2021 and started posing derogatory messages against the chairman and the institute.
Sensing conspiracy, the chairman of the college filed a police complaint. In his complaint, he said an unknown person has created a fake Facebook ID with his identity. He said the man is posting messages which are defamatory to him as a person and the institution he heads.
During the course of the investigation, police collected all the technical evidence. After analyzing the data, police arrested the accused on September 21. He was produced before the court for judicial custody.
