Foxconn confirms it is setting up manufacturing facility in Telangana

Hyderabad: Ending all the speculations, Foxconn Technology Group (Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd.) officially confirmed its commitment to set up a manufacturing facility in Telangana.

The chairman of Foxconn, Young Liu, sent a letter to Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on 6 March expressing gratitude for the warm hospitality extended during their visit to Hyderabad and confirming their commitment to the Kongar Kalan Park project.

The confirmation from Foxconn comes after rumours that the company was in a dilemma as to whether it would set up a manufacturing facility in Telangana or Karnataka. However, during a meeting between CM KCR and Young Liu on 2 March, it was agreed that Foxconn would set up an electronics manufacturing facility in Telangana, with the potential to generate employment for over one lakh people.

During the meeting, KCR emphasised that Telangana considers Taiwan a natural partner and that the state is glad to be a part of Foxconn’s growth story. Both parties also discussed the importance of diversifying electronics manufacturing for a resilient supply chain and the pivotal role to be played by state governments. The chairman of Foxconn praised the friendly industrial development ecosystem created in Telangana and expressed happiness over the progress achieved by the state in the industrial sector, especially in IT and related electronics sectors, in a short span of eight and a half years.

In the letter to KCR, Young Liu extended an invitation to the Chief Minister to visit Taiwan as his personal guest, stating that it would be his honour to host KCR in Taipei. The letter concluded with Young Liu expressing his excitement to meet KCR soon and thanking him for his warm birthday wishes and a personalised card.
