Hyderabad: With effect from January 1, the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate has implemented revised guidelines for the registration and investigation of cybercrime cases based on the amount of financial loss that occurred in a case.

The revised guidelines are here as follows:

Financial loss up to Rs 1.5 lakh: Cybercrime cases involving financial loss of up to Rs 1,50,000 will now be registered and investigated by the local police station concerned in that jurisdiction.

Financial loss above Rs 1.5 lakh: Cybercrime cases where financial loss exceeds Rs 1,50,000 will be registered and investigated exclusively by the Cybercrime Police Station, Cyberabad.

Cybercrimes with no financial implications will be registered at the police station in that jurisdiction.

These changes aim to streamline the investigation process, ensuring faster resolution of cases and optimal utilisation of resources to combat cybercrimes effectively. Victims are encouraged to report cybercrimes promptly through the 1930 cybercrime helpline or register a complaint on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in).
