Ganesh Chaturthi: 74 ponds prepared for immersion; here are the locations

Hyderabad: Seventy-four ponds are being prepared for immersion of Lord Ganesh idols in Hyderabad. In some places, along with natural ponds, artificial pools have been created. Of the 74 ponds, 28 are permanent, 24 are portable and 22 are artificial.

Portable artificial pools

Twenty-four artificial pools were constructed with Prefabricated Fiber Rain Forced Plastic (SRP) from 1.35 to 150 meters in depth. Out of the 24, four are being established in the LB Nagar zone- at AS Rao Nagar, Exhibition Ground, Secretariat Nagar Officers Kalani Welfare Association Ground, MRO Office Hayat Nagar, and Government College Behind Municipal Office.

Three of them are made in Krishna Tulsi Nagar Park, Riyasat Nagar Shivalaya Ground, and at Janagamet in Shree Lakshmi Iswara Play Ground.

Five ponds are constructed in Khairatabad Bad Zone- at 100 Feet Road YSB Garden, Nizam College Play Ground, Nampally Exhibition Ground, Ameer Pate PlayGround, and NBT Nagar.

Three ponds are made in Serilingampally Zone- at Behind I Max Theater, PJR Stadium Chandanagar, and Patan Pond Saki Pond.

Three ponds in Kukatpally Zone- at Chittaramma Temple Vivekananda Nagar, HMT Open Place, Kaukur Park, and Near Water Tank.

Four ponds in Secunderabad Zone- Two pools at Azad Nagar Amber Pate Stadium, Two pools at NTR Stadium, Chilkalguda Municipal Ground, and Marredpally PlayGround.

Artificial ponds

Besides, 22 artificial ponds have been dug at 22 different locations. Depending on the need, the officials will take a decision and arrange more ponds.

These ponds are dug in LB Nagar Zone- at Devender Nagar Road in Circle, Cricket Ground next to Vanasthalipuram Swimming Pool in Circle, Huda Bharti Nagar, Saroor Nagar NTR Nagar Vegetable Market in Circle; in Charminar zone- at Ekalavya ground in 6th circle, Gowlipura Bathukamma well in 7th circle, Vaishali Nagar Common Champa pet main road, Mylar Devalapalli Narsabai Kunta in 11th circle, Sai Bhavani Mkway, PVR Expressway in circle 12 in Khairatabad zone Pillar 54, Chintal Basti Ram Leela Ground, Annapurna Temple Gudimalkapur, Sanat Nagar Sports Complex in Circle 17, Sakkubai Lay Out Shake Pet in Circle 18.

In Serilingampally Zone, ponds have been created at Gopal Pally Road Opposite Ranganayak Temple, Regula Kunta Pond in 21st Circle, Patan Pond in 22nd Circle Saki Pond.

In Kukatpally Zone, ponds have been set up at HNT Open Ground in Circle 25, HNT Open Place in Circle 26 (Next to ESI Hospital) NTR Stadium in Circle 15 in Secunderabad Zone, Amber Pet Dumping Yard in 16th Ward, 29.

Permanent immersion ponds

There are 28 permanent immersion ponds in the city.

There are five ponds under LB Nagar Nagar Zone in Cherlapally, Capra Cheruvu, Nalla Cheruvu, Nagol Lake, and Mansurabad Pedda Cheruvu. In Charminar, ponds are at Narsabai Kunta, Pati Kunta, Rajanna Bavi, Neknampur, and Khairatabad Necklace Road. There are eight ponds in Serilingampally Zone, including Durgam Lake, Malkam Lake, Nallagandla Lake, Gopi Lake, Gangaram Lake, Khaidamma Kunta, Gurunadham Lake, Raya Samudra.

In Kukatpally Zone, there are 7 places including Mullakatva Pond, IDL, Balaji Nagar Musapet, Boyne Pond, Pragati Nagar Alwin, Colony Hyder Nagar, Lingam Pond New Pond, and Vennela Gadda Lake. There are three in the Secunderabad Zone including Sanjeevaiah Park, Safil Guda, and Bada Pond.
