Ganesh immersion in Hyderabad: CCTV, drones, QR codes for monitoring; 40 cranes on standby
Hyderabad: This year’s Ganesh immersion in Hyderabad will be monitored with the help of advanced technology, including CCTV cameras, drone surveillance and QR code-based stickers, Police Commissioner CV Anand announced on Thursday after reviewing arrangements at the Khairatabad Bada Ganesh.
10,900 Ganesh mandals
He said 10,900 Ganesh mandapams have already been granted permission online, while efforts are on to bring the remaining idols under record for better supervision
Massive security deployment
For the September 6 immersion, nearly 30,000 police personnel will be on duty.
This includes 19,000 from city units, 8,500 from other districts, 42 platoons, 10 CAPF companies and elite Octopus teams.
Control centres for real-time monitoring
Joint control centres have been set up at NTR Marg and People’s Plaza, while a 24-hour command centre at TG ICCC, Banjara Hills, will track immersion activities and crowd movement.
Safety guidelines for organisers
Appealing to Utsav Samithi organisers, Anand urged them to ensure safe electrical connections, as wet wood could act as a conductor, appoint volunteers for crowd management and stay alert to weather-related risks, especially heavy rains.
Cranes at immersion points
Cranes have already been stationed at Hussain Sagar and Mir Alam Tank, with the total number expected to be scaled up to 40 to manage the heavy inflow of idols.
Managing Khairatabad footfall
The Khairatabad Ganesh idol attracts 60,000–70,000 devotees daily and up to two lakh visitors on weekends. To prevent stampedes, the Commissioner instructed officials to strengthen barricading, regulate queues, and enhance surveillance.
Public cooperation sought
Calling for collective responsibility, Anand urged the public, devotees, and Utsav Samithi members to extend full cooperation for a safe, peaceful and incident-free celebration.
