The city police on Friday arrested eight persons who were running a fake Aadhaar card racket by using Assam IDs and fabricated documents.

Hyderabad: The city police on Friday arrested eight persons who were running a fake Aadhaar card racket by using Assam IDs and fabricated documents.

The police seized six laptops, six fingerprint slabs, six cameras, five stamps, Aadhaar card enrollment forms attested by a fake gazetted officer, forged birth certificates, fake Aadhaar cards, and cash worth Rs. 80,000 from their possession.

Based on a complaint from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the west zone task force team and the Golconda police arrested Nitesh Singh (30) and Mohd. Sohil (23) of Borabanda, Syed Mustafa (28) and Mohd. Azhar Shareef (27) of Tolichowki, Rabbani M.A (28) of Kachiguda, Shaik Jahangir Pasha (37) of Miyapur, Mohd. Anwaruddin (34) of Rajendra Nagar and Mohd. Ahmed (20) of Charminar.

The gang was collecting Rs. 2,000-3,000 from the applicants for enrolling for and updating Aadhar. The accused persons along with the seized property were handed over to the SHO of Golconda police station.
