Garbage on your street? Hyderabad citizens can now report it on WhatsApp instantly

Hyderabad: Reporting garbage dumps, overflowing bins or clogged nalas in the city no longer requires a visit to a municipal office.

Citizens across Greater Hyderabad can now lodge sanitation complaints instantly through dedicated WhatsApp numbers introduced by civic bodies, ensuring quicker response and hassle-free grievance redressal.

In a move aimed at strengthening citizen participation and improving urban cleanliness, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other municipal corporations in the Hyderabad metropolitan region have rolled out WhatsApp-based reporting systems for sanitation-related issues.

GHMC introduces WhatsApp Grievance facility

Under the GHMC initiative, residents can report garbage dumped on roads, overflowing or uncleared garbage bins, choked nalas requiring desilting and green waste removal.

Citizens simply need to click a photograph of the issue and share it along with the location details via WhatsApp or call 8125966586.

Officials say the system is designed to ensure quick response, eliminate the need for physical visits to municipal offices, and make grievance redressal more citizen-friendly.

Cyberabad Municipal Corporation rolls out a similar service

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation has also introduced a dedicated WhatsApp facility for sanitation complaints. Residents can report garbage dumping in public places and overflowing bins in their localities.

Complaints can be sent via WhatsApp to 9063421347, along with a photograph and exact location.

Authorities stated that the objective is to enable quick reporting and faster resolution without requiring residents to visit municipal offices.

Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation joins the initiative

The Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) has similarly streamlined sanitation grievance reporting through WhatsApp.

Citizens can report garbage accumulation, green waste, and overflowing bins at Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs). Complaints can be sent to 9063421300 with a photo and location details.

Focus on citizen participation

Civic body officials emphasised that the WhatsApp-based complaint system is part of a broader push to improve sanitation standards through technology-driven governance.

By simplifying the reporting process, authorities hope to encourage more residents to actively participate in keeping their neighbourhoods clean, green, and hygienic.

With just a photo and a message, sanitation concerns can now reach officials instantly, marking a significant step toward responsive urban administration in the Hyderabad metropolitan region.
