Hyderabad: The sleuths of the commissioner's task force, central zone team, Hyderabad, raided a gas agency in Mallepally in the city on 30 April and arrested two persons for illegally selling oxygen cylinders.
After receiving credible information, the officers raided United Gas Agencies and arrested Chandrakanth (50), the owner of the gas agency, and his son Ravikanth (31) – residents of Puranapool Dargha - who were making profit by taking advantage of needy COVID-19 patients and selling oxygen cylinders at high prices.
The police seized 41 oxygen cylinders of 40 liters each and 16 cylinders of 10 liters each.
The duo was purchasing oxygen cylinders from distributors at government-mandated price and were selling them for profit. The police found that not only were they violating government orders but they were also not taking any precautionary measures like fire safety at their shop.
The father and son along with the seized materials were handed over to the SHO of Humayun Nagar police station for further investigation.
On 29 April, the sleuths of the commissioner's task force, west zone team, had arrested a city businessman who was selling oxygen cylinders without a valid permit. The police along with drug control officials had raided the godown of Ayesha Enterprises located at Golkonda, Hyderabad, and arrested Md. Abdul Kareem (32) for illegally selling oxygen cylinders. They seized 19 cylinders from his possession.
