GHMC assistant engineer held for accepting Rs 1.2 L bribe in Kapra

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Ranga Reddy Unit, on Tuesday apprehended B Swaroopa, assistant executive engineer (AEE) of Kapra Circle-1, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.20 lakh.

The officer was caught red-handed at approximately 2:20 pm while receiving the bribe from a complainant. The bribe was reportedly solicited for issuing Measurement Book (MB) entries related to the complainant’s completed works, an act constituting misuse of official position.

Following the trap, ACB officials recovered the entire bribe amount from the accused at her instance. Swaroopa has been arrested and will be presented before the Hon’ble First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally, Hyderabad.

The case is currently under investigation, the ACB officials said.
