Hyderabad: The Town Planning Wing of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) began marking the portions of properties for land acquisition around KBR Park for the execution of the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) programme launched by the State government.

Among the properties being marked are those owned by prominent figures such as film actor and TDP Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna, Congress MLA from Nagarjuna Sagar, K Jayaveer Reddy and the son of prominent Congress leader K Jana Reddy.

86 properties are undergoing land acquisition

According to sources, the GHMC would start the road-widening project soon after marking their properties for demolition. While 86 properties are undergoing land acquisition, 306 properties in total are probably going to be impacted by the road development plan from Road No 12 Banjara Hills junction, including Road No 1 and 2 to Jubilee Hills Check Post via KBR Park.

Road expansion from Banjara Hills Road No 1 (near Virinchi Hospital) via Road No 12 to Jubilee Hills check post via KBR Park is the proposed project of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). “This is why land is being acquired and small sections, but not the full establishments, would be demolished as part of the land acquisition process,” officials said.

306 properties will be acquired

The current road’s width varies from 15.4 to 32 meters in some places, and the entire stretch is 6.5 kilometres long. The GHMC has requested that this road be widened to 30 to 36 meters, and to do so, parts of 306 properties will be acquired. Under Project Package I of Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI), this road widening project will be undertaken.

The civic body has also suggested building grade separators and underpasses at six intersections surrounding KBR Park under H-CITI. To expedite these infrastructure projects, MA&UD principal secretary Dana Kishore recently directed GHMC commissioner K Ilambarithi to form an interdepartmental coordination group for the implementation of the H-CITI project, which would include representatives from several State government departments.
