Hyderabad: Several important files were destroyed after a fire broke out at the GHMC Charminar Circle office in Moghalpura on Thursday morning.
Moghalpura Inspector Shiva Kumar said at 9.30 am, thick smoke billowed out of the town planning department on the second floor of the Mughalpura Sports Complex building.
TSSP police noticed the smoke and informed the fire station and Moghalpura cops. Moghalpura Inspector and his team quickly arrived at the scene, followed by the fire brigade, who extinguished the fire within 15 minutes with the assistance of the police.
Fortunately, there were no casualties or property damage reported. However, Charminar Circle DMC Surya Kumar revealed that approximately 30 percent of the files in the town planning department were burnt.
Initial reports suggest that a deliberate attempt was made to destroy the files. Miscreants tried to mask it as an electrical circuit malfunction.
Consequently, the police are conducting a thorough investigation from all possible angles. Acting upon Suryakumar's complaint, a case has been registered and an investigation is under process.
However, in the chaotic aftermath of the fire, a considerable number of important documents were found scattered on the streets surrounding the office premises. The intense heat and strong wind created a challenging situation for the staff members. Employees and passersby collected the scattered documents.
