GHMC crosses Rs 1,172 crore revenue in 2025–26; over 17,900 building permissions issued

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has recorded a strong performance in town planning approvals during the financial year 2025–26, issuing a total of 17,957 building permissions, layout approvals and occupancy certificates.
As much as Rs 1,172.08 crore was generated in revenue, surpassing last year’s collections.
BuildNow portal streamlines approvals
All building permissions, occupancy certificates and layout approvals, including open plots and gated communities, are being processed through the BuildNow portal, which was launched in March 2025 by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
The digital platform has significantly simplified the approval process by categorising applications into three streamlined systems.
Three-tier approval system
The GHMC processes applications under the following categories:
Instant Registration: Applicable for individual residential buildings with plot areas up to 75 square yards and height up to 7 metres (G+1). Work commencement letters are issued after post-verification.
Instant Approval: Covers residential buildings with plot areas between 75 and 600 square yards and height up to 10 metres, followed by post-verification.
Single Window System: Applies to large residential buildings (above 500 sq. metres or height above 10 metres) and all non-residential constructions such as high-rise buildings, group housing, multiplexes, and projects requiring multiple NOCs.
Breakdown of approvals
Out of the total permissions issued:
Instant Registration: 972
Instant Approval: 12,014
Single Window: 2,515
Layouts (housing & open plots): 29
In total, 15,536 building permissions were granted during the year. Additionally, 2,427 occupancy certificates were issued.

The distribution of approvals across corporations is as follows:
GHMC: 5,755
CMC: 5,403
MMC: 6,799
Total: 17,957 approvals
Revenue surpasses the previous year
The GHMC earned Rs 1,172.08 crore through building permissions and occupancy certificates in 2025–26, exceeding the previous year’s revenue of Rs 1,138.44 crore.
Corporation-wise revenue collection:
GHMC: Rs 436.47 crore
CMC: Rs 538.09 crore
MMC: Rs 198.24 crore
Digital push boosts efficiency
“The introduction of the BuildNow portal has improved transparency, reduced processing time, and enhanced ease of doing construction-related business in Hyderabad,” said GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan.
