GHMC Elections: Telangana govt declares public holiday on December 1st

Hyderabad: In view of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Election scheduled on December 1st. The Telangana government has announced a public holiday on the day of polling.

In an order issued on 20th November, the government said, "A public holiday has been declared to all the employees/workers serving in the factories, shops, and establishments and industrial undertaking located in the Greater Hyderabad. The holiday has been declared with an aim to encourage voters to exercise their electoral right".

The government has directed the Commissioner of labour to ensure the order is passed on to the establishments. The municipal polls are scheduled for December 1st while counting will be three days later.
