GHMC fines Chennai Silk Kukatpally Rs. 6L for illegal advertisements
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) imposed a fine of Rs. 6 lakhs against the Chennai Silk showroom in Kukatpally on 19 December over illegal advertisements.

The Enforcement Vigilance and Disaster Management (EV&DM) wing of the GHMC fined the establishment for erecting unauthorised advertisement hoardings above 15 feet in height from the ground level.
This is in response to a tweet that the EV&DM team received on 19 December about the erection of the illegal banner.

The EV&DM team registered the complaint and generated an e-challan on the same day while imposing a fine.

According to the EV&DM, Chennai Silk had erected illegal advertisements without permission from authorities concerned which is an offence under Sections 420 and 421 of the GHMC Act and as per a government order issued on 20 April 2020.
Also, erecting advertisements, displaying painted advertisements, use of flashing lights or non-static illumination in advertisements, flouting rules regarding the size of advertisements or using name boards exceeding 15 per cent of the frontage of the building, use of moving, rotating, or variable message advertising devices invites penalties from the authorities.
The EV&DM has also imposed a fine of Rs. 2 lakhs against Nakshatra Adways for erecting unauthorised advertisement element above 15 feet in height from the ground level.
