GHMC notice to VP of Secunderabad Cantonment Board over illegal construction

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has sent a notice to J. Rama Krishna, the vice-president of Secunderabad Cantonment Board and BJP leader for the illegal construction of a building in East Marredpally.

A complaint was lodged by Satyanarayana Rao, a resident of Marredpally, against Mr. Rama Krishna in which the formed said that illegal and dangerous construction work is under progress in the area, disturbing the existing high-tension electrical supply wires. Poles are being constructed for five floors on a plot located at Entrenchment Road in East Marredpally without any fire protection. This can cause danger to the nearby schools, colleges, hospitals, the complaint said.

After receiving the complaint, the GHMC inspected the site. In a notice, the municipal body said Mr. Rama Krishna had not applied for any valid permission from the GHMC to construct the building and hence was violating the provisions of the HMC Act 1955.

The GHMC has asked him to show sufficient cause in writing or by an agent duly authorised by him on why the unauthorised constructions should not be removed, altered, or pulled down. It also asked Mr. Rama Krishna to stop the construction work and submit the reply in seven days.

Speaking to NewsMeter, Mr. Rama Krishna said, "I am aware of the notice and I will reply to it. However, I have applied for the required permissions."
