GHMC polls: Neredmet division result withheld after mismatch in ballots

State Election Commission said that 544 ballot papers of polling station number 54 in ward 136 of Neredmet were marked with distinguished marks. "As these ballot papers have a bearing in the majority or declaration of the result, as per the instructions of TSEC, the declaration of the result has been kept in abeyance in ward no.136," said the Returning Officer of Neredmet.

Earlier in the day, Telangana High Court said if the number of ballot papers with 'distinguish mark' exceeds 100, the final result of that division should be kept pending.

The High Court clarified that only the votes marked with arrow symbols on ballot papers should be considered and validated for counting purposes in the elections.

In the division, there is a straight fight between TRS candidates and BJP.
