GHMC saved Rs. 418 cr from LED lights installed in last 5 yrs
About 4.93 lakh street lights of various volts were installed in 30 circles in six zones of Baldia.

The lights were installed by the GHMC in the financial year 2017-18. As per the reports, there was a considerable difference in the electricity bill after the installation of LED lights which were installed in the city as per the directions of the state government.
GHMC was able to save Rs. 42 crore in 2017-18, Rs. 85.23 crore in 2018-19, Rs. 84.48 crore in 2019-20, Rs. 84.48 crore in 2020-21, and Rs. 49.93 crore until October 2021. Other charges in terms of fixation and labor concession were also saved.
About 4.93 lakh street lights of various volts were installed in 30 circles in six zones of Baldia. Also, 11,283 street lights with a capacity of 18 watts; 1,05,004 lights of 35 volts; 2,70,948 lights of 70 volts; 87,534 lights of 110 volts; and 18,228 street lights of 190 volts have been installed. In total, 4,92,997 street lights and an additional 29,171 with CCMS variants were installed to illuminate the roads.
The LED street lights were set up by Energy Efficiency Services Limited, a public sector undertaking of the NTPC Joint Venture which is a subsidiary of the ministry of power.
