GHMC spends Rs. 522.16 crores in 7 yrs for LED street lights: RTI

A total of 4,74,125 LED street lights has been installed by EESL-GHMC since May 2017, including 2,58,440 LED lights of 70 watts each, 1,02,082 LED lights of 35 watts each, 85,001 of 110 watts each, 17,338 of 90 watts, and 11,265 18-watts lights.

Hyderabad: In an RTI reply, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has revealed that it's budget to set up LED street lights in the city is Rs. 522.16 crores for seven years.

In reply to an RTI filed by the Society for Safety of Public and Good Governance regarding the budget allocation, the municipal body said government order 194 for the implementation of energy conservation and efficiency measures in GHMC on an annuity basis through Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).

The GHMC entered into an agreement with ESSL in May 2017 for the implementation of the LED light project in the GHMC limits for seven years on an annuity basis and the total expenditure for the period is approximate Rs. 522.16 crores.

A total of 4,74,125 LED street lights has been installed by EESL-GHMC since May 2017, including 2,58,440 LED lights of 70 watts each, 1,02,082 LED lights of 35 watts each, 85,001 of 110 watts each, 17,338 of 90 watts, and 11,265 18-watts lights.

Around 1,27,803 LED lights, the highest, has been put up in the central zone of the GHMC followed by 1,09,588 in the south zone, 81,277 in the north zone, 80,484 in the east zone, and 74,973 in the west zone.

Around 23,684 LED lights, the highest, has been put up in Rajendra Nagar circle.
