Hyderabad: In a bid to fast-track resolution of property tax grievances, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will organise a special redressal drive titled ‘Property Tax Parishkaram’ (PTP) on all Sundays in March 2026 across its circle offices.

According to a circular issued by Commissioner R.V. Karnan, the programme will be conducted on March 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., enabling taxpayers to get their issues resolved on the spot in a time-bound manner.

Special grievance redressal at Circle Offices

Deputy Commissioners, Valuation Officers/Assistant Municipal Commissioners and Tax Inspectors will be present at all circle offices to directly receive and process grievances.

The initiative is aimed at expediting disposal of revision petitions, rectification of property tax assessments, posting of payments made through bill collectors, RTGS and online modes, correction of arrears, settlement of court cases as per rules, IGRS-related matters, self-assessment issues, and other tax-related concerns.

Three dedicated counters equipped with computers, online connectivity and printers will be set up at each centre to ensure quick processing. A reception counter will guide taxpayers, provide required forms and streamline submissions.

Strict monitoring and accountability

Officials have been instructed to prioritise pending revision petitions after due verification. Online corrections must be carried out as per the delegation of powers already issued by the Commissioner.

Zonal and Deputy Commissioners have been directed to assign clear responsibilities to staff and ensure adherence to timelines. Daily reports in a prescribed format will be submitted to the Revenue Wing and updated on a centralised monitoring platform.

The Corporation has cautioned that delays in processing applications will be viewed seriously and may attract disciplinary action.

Focus on legal cases

Special attention will also be given to property tax-related legal cases. Petitioners have been encouraged to attend the Parishkaram with relevant documents for possible resolution in accordance with court orders and statutory provisions.

GHMC has urged taxpayers with pending grievances to utilise the opportunity and attend the drive with necessary documents for on-the-spot redressal. Wide publicity will be undertaken to ensure maximum participation.

90% interest waiver under OTS Scheme

Appealing to citizens to support city development by paying property taxes, Commissioner R.V. Karnan said the Government has announced a ‘One Time Settlement’ (OTS) scheme for the financial year 2025–2026.

Under the scheme, a substantial 90% waiver on accumulated interest over old arrears is being offered to long-pending defaulters.

The Commissioner urged taxpayers to make use of the relief measure and clear their dues at the earliest.
