Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is set to host a special adoption drive for indie puppies on August 17 at Jalagam Vengalrao Park, Banjara Hills, between 6 am and 10 am. The initiative aims to provide a safe and caring environment for stray puppies while encouraging residents to choose adoption over purchasing pets.
More citywide adoption drives soon
GHMC officials said similar drives will be conducted at multiple locations across Hyderabad in the coming weeks. The civic body hopes to make the adoption process accessible to more citizens and ensure a sustained effort in reducing the stray dog population.
Health screening and vaccination
All puppies available for adoption will undergo basic health checks and receive vaccinations prior to being rehomed. This measure is intended to ensure the well-being of the animals and safeguard the health of adopting families.
Call for public participation
In a press statement, GHMC urged citizens to come forward and support the cause, stressing that providing shelter and care to stray animals not only benefits the pets but also contributes to a more humane and responsible community.
