GHMC’s One Time Scheme: 90% waiver on arrears interest if full property tax is paid

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has introduced a one-time scheme to clear off arrears accumulated in property tax.

The municipal body has announced a 90 per cent waiver of arrears interest on property tax under the GHMC jurisdiction till financial year 2024-25.

In an official announcement, the municipal body explained, “A One Time Scheme (OTS) will be provided for the waiver of 90 per cent of accumulated arrear interest on property tax, provided the taxpayers clear the principle amount of property tax till the year 2024-25 together with 10 per cent of interest on accumulated arrears in one go in respect of all properties under the OTS under GHMC.”

The government, after careful examination of the matter, hereby orders for waiver of 90 per cent of accumulated arrear interest on property tax, provided that the taxpayer clears the principle amount of property tax dues till the year 2024-25 together with 10 per cent of interest on accumulated arrears at one go in respect of all properties under OTS in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

In respect of the taxpayers, who paid their entire property tax dues, including interest/penalties up to March 2025, during the current financial year prior to the scheme coming into force, 90 per cent of such interest/penalties on arrears shall be adjusted against the future.
