Glamour, glitz, razzmatazz: All roads lead to Sania Mirza’s farewell bash

Hyderabad: Tennis star Sania Mirza ended her journey on Sunday in Hyderabad's Lal Bahadur Stadium. She played the last exhibition match to bid goodbye to her sports career. It was the same place where she won a historic WTA singles tournament two decades before. She became extremely emotional when she formally hung her boots.

Later, she hosted a farewell bash- Red Carpet event at Trident Hotel in Hyderabad. Many celebs were seen in attendance at the party, including AR Rahman, Mahesh Babu, and his wife.

Saina Nehwal with her husband Kashyap, Telangana IT minister KTR, Irfan Pathan with his family, and Hyderabad city police commissioner C V Anand also attended the Red Carpet event.

Sania was accompanied by friends and family. Spotted at the party were sister Anam Mirza with her husband Mohammad Asaduddin and their daughter Dua. In attendance were Farah Khan and Huma Qureshi, close friends of Sania.

Taking to Instagram, Farah treated fans with a glimpse of after-farewell party plans.

In the picture, Farah and Sania can be seen lying down on a bed and holding hands. Sharing the picture she wrote, “So this is what champions do after retirement..Chill in bed with their best friend #saniaevent @mirzasaniar lov uuu”.

Huma Qureshi also shared pictures of her from the farewell with a sweet caption.

“To my friend who is an inspiration to a whole generation of girls and boys…This is the beginning of another glorious chapter my @mirzasaniar. You bring your A-game to every room you walk in. I love you and admire you deeply. I first saw you in Wimbledon in 2015 and since then our friendship has only grown,” she wrote.

Prominent personalities including former Indian sports Minister and current law minister Kiren Rijiju, former Indian cricket team skipper Mohammad Azharuddin, Yuvraj Singh, Bigg Boss 16 winner- Rapper McStan, Dulquer Salmaan, and Diana Penty also attended Mirza’s farewell party.
