Hyderabad: Telangana Teaching Government Doctors Association (TTGDA) has condemned the administrationā€™s action against teaching doctors at Government Medical College (GMC), Nalgonda.

The move has evoked a sharp reaction. Doctors resorted to protests and threatened to go on strike

Inspections trigger discontent

The controversy began after District Collector of Nalgonda, CN. Arayana Reddy, inspected Government General Hospital, Nalgonda, on June 19.

During the inspection, several issues were noticed. Therefore the government asked the officers to inspect the hospital daily.

"The District Collector, Nalgonda, has conducted a surprise inspection of the Government General Hospital, Nalgonda, on 19/06/2024, and also conducted a coordination meeting with the staff of the Government General Hospital, Nalgonda on the issues noticed during the visit of the hospital," the government note said.,

TTGDA's Response

TTGDA however was quick to condemn the measures taken against the teaching doctors. The Association expressed dissatisfaction with the government's handling of the situation and threatened to escalate their protests if the decisions were not reversed.

"We strongly condemn the actions taken by the government against the teaching doctors in Nalgonda Government Medical College. It is a pity that the government has not resolved them and is still provoking them," TTGDA said.

Call for Immediate Withdrawal of Decisions

The TTGDA has called for the immediate withdrawal of the government's decisions, warning of further protest actions if their demands are not met. They have announced plans to carry out protest programs with black badges in all medical colleges across the state starting tomorrow.

"If the government does not withdraw such decisions immediately, we will carry out protest programs with black badges in all medical colleges across the state from tomorrow. Medical services will be suspended. If the situation is wrong, we will go on an indefinite strike," the TTGDA declared.

Daily Inspections Schedule

The government's response to the issues identified in the initial inspection involves a schedule for daily inspections by various district officers. The inspections are to be conducted between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM, with officers submitting their reports as per the check memo provided.

The officers drafted for inspection duties include:

- 27-06-2024: Sri N. Premkaran Reddy, Chief Executive Officer, ZP

- 28-06-2024: Sri T. Nagi Reddy, District Rural Development Officer

- 29-06-2024: Sri K. Murali, District Panchayat Officer

- 30-06-2024: Sri P. Shravan Kumar, JDA, District Agriculture Officer

- 01-07-2024: Sri Niranjan Rao, Joint Director, CPO, Nalgonda

Further developments are awaited as both parties navigate the ongoing dispute.
