GMR Aviation Academy to launch airport management course for students

New Delhi: GMR Aviation Academy ā€“ the training and education arm of GMR Airports Ltd., a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure Limited ā€“ on Monday announced its alliance with Aptech Aviation Academy to empower aspiring aviation students with industry-relevant skill sets and training. This alliance's new programme will be known as 'Professional in Airport Management & Customer Service' (PAMCS). The idea is to prepare undergraduate students for careers in airport management and customer service.

This employment-driven programme aims to create job opportunities for undergraduates in various fields such as airport ground staff, airport ticketing, passenger service, airport security, cabin crew, airline customer service, cargo agent, load control officer, and cargo attendant.

The students joining this programme will have to complete training modules from Aptech Aviation Academy in their respective centers in various parts of the country. After this, they will complete the remaining programme modules from GMR Aviation Academy Campus at Indira Gandhi Airport, Terminal 2 (in front of Departure Gate No. 1), including a one-month internship. Such an initiative is being undertaken in India for the first time.

Ashwani Lohani, the CEO of GMR Services Business, said, "Aviation sector has emerged as an employment generating sector. There is a huge demand for industry-ready candidates such as customer service associates (CSA) and airport operations. The courses offered by GMRAA and Aptech Aviation Academy aim at making candidates industry ready. After completing their courses and internship, candidates will become industry-ready and be the best in the industry."

With industry bouncing back to normal, employment opportunities are growing.
