Godavari Phase-I project works: Water supply to be hit in Hyderabad on Tuesday, Wednesday
Hyderabad: HMWSSB has announced that drinking water supply will be interrupted for about 48 hours in several parts of the city from 6 am on September 9 (Tuesday), to 11 am September 10 (Wednesday), due to major valve replacement works on the Godavari Phase-I project.
The works involve replacing 900-mm diameter valves on the 3,000-mm diameter mild steel pumping main at Murmur, Mallaram and Kondapak pumping stations.
Areas affected
HMWSSB said the following divisions and localities will face disruption:
O&M Division-6 (SR Nagar): SR Nagar, Sanathnagar, Borabanda, SPR Hills, Erragadda, Banjara Hills, Venkatarao Nagar, Yellareddyguda, Somajiguda, Fatehnagar, parts of Jubilee Hills and Tatikhana.
O&M Division-7: Parts of Lalapet and Tarnaka.
O&M Division-9: Kukatpally, Bhagyanagar, Vivekananda Nagar, Yellammabanda, Moosapet, Bharat Nagar, Motinagar, Gayatri Nagar, Babanagar, KPHB, Balaji Nagar and Hashmathpet.
O&M Division-12: Chintal, Suchitra, Jeedimetla, Shapur Nagar, Gajularamaram, Suraram, Adarsh Nagar, Bhagat Singh Nagar, Jagadgirigutta and Ushodaya sections.
O&M Division-8: Alwal, Father Balaiah Nagar, Venkatapuram, Macha Bolaram, Defence Colony, Vajpayee Nagar, Yapral, Chanakyapuri, Goutham Nagar, Sainathpuram and Moulali reservoir area.
O&M Division-14 (Kapra Municipality): Charlapalli, Sai Baba Nagar, Radhika sections, Kailasagiri (old & new reservoirs), Housing Board section, parts of Mallapur.
O&M Division-15: Kondapur, Doyens, parts of Madhapur, Gachibowli and Nallagandla.
O&M Division-17: Hafeezpet, Miyapur.
O&M Division-19: Pocharam.
O&M Division-21: Kompally, Gundlapochampally, Thumkunta, Jawaharnagar, Dammaiguda, Nagaram and Ayyappa Colony reservoir area.
O&M Division-22: Nizampet, Bachupally, Pragathi Nagar, Gandimaisamma, Tellapur, Bollaram and Bowrampet.
Transmission Division-4: MES, Trishul Lines, Gunrock, Hakimpet Air Force Station, Secunderabad Cantonment and AIIMS Bibinagar.
Rural Water Supply Off-takes: Aler (Bhuvanagiri) and Ghanpur (Medchal/Shamirpet).
Advisory to residents
The water board has appealed to consumers in the affected areas to store sufficient water in advance and use it judiciously until normal supply is restored after the maintenance window.
