Hyderabad: With a drop in temperatures, keeping oneself warm has become a matter of privilege. The Relief Riders Hyderabad, a cycling community in the city, along with the Pink Circle Foundation is donating blankets to the underprivileged people of the city.
Speaking with NewsMeter, Ravi, an active member of the cycling community, shared how they work. "We generally ride during the early hours of the day to avoid traffic. We usually start at 4 a.m, reach the destination around 6 a.m, and come back by 8 a.m to get back to work," he said.
"We collect blankets and give them to people during these rides. Last week, we partnered with the Pink Circle Foundation, but we intend to continue the donation drives throughout the winter," he added.
About partnering with the Pink Circle Foundation, Ravi said, "They collected and gave us around 65 blankets. We are handing them over to cyclists so that they reach each corner of the city."
When asked how one can help the cause, he said anyone can contact him at the number mentioned on Relief Riders Hyd Twitter handle.
The group was also active during the Covid-19 pandemic, delivering medication, food, and other necessities to the door of the elderly and other marginalised persons who were at risk.
The Pink Circle Foundation is an all-women NGO working mainly on educating girl children from low-income families and on the skill development of economically weak women.
